Why Your Cycle Might Get Canceled or Delayed

Life has its share of setbacks and disappointments. Unfortunately, cancellations or delays of embryo transfer cycles during fertility treatment can sometimes be among those unpleasant hiccups.

There can be many reasons for cancelling the embryo transfer portion of a cycle, including:

-A woman’s body is unresponsive to the medical protocol.

-A fibroid or polyp develops and needs to be removed.

-The uterine lining just doesn’t develop properly.

-A woman’s body is overly responsive to the medical protocol.

But if any of these happen to you, all hope is not lost. A successful transfer cycle may still be very possible, and could be just ahead in the near future. Southeastern Fertility Co-Director Dr. John Gordon and IVF Coordinator Lynda McCollum unpack all of this in detail in this video.

Embryo Cheating

In the normal course of reproduction, an embryo makes its way into the uterus on Day 5. It then usually attaches and implants on Day 7. However, when it comes to IVF and frozen embryo transfers, it’s actually possible to “cheat the system”- and it still works!

Southeastern Fertility Co-Director Dr. John Gordon and IVF Coordinator Lynda McCollum explain, with their trademark brand of fun thrown in, in this video. By the way, what do you think of Dr. Gordon’s new Management Resolution Device?!

These People Refreshed Us!

Frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycle weeks are busy times at Southeastern Fertility & The National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC). We’re incredibly grateful to the generous folks at Christ Presbyterian Church Knoxville, one of the NEDC’s church partners, for taking a week each quarter to provide the team and some of our families with lunch every day. As St. Paul wrote to Philemon, they are bringing much joy & encouragement and refreshing our hearts by serving in this way.

In the video below, Southeastern Fertility’s Lynda McCollum and Mark Mellinger give you a quick look at one of the lunch spreads this church has provided. May it encourage you to think of something practical you could do to refresh the hearts of others!
